-MODULE THREE: TEACHING A GOOD STORY AND CHECKING FOR COMPREHENSION
Suggested Deadline for Completion of all Modules: July 15, 2017
In this module, you will see how stories are powerful and important learning tools. You will also learn strategies for checking for comprehension and why this is essential.
Activity 1 – Story Form Lesson Design
- View Teaching a Good Story (NFLC). How is planning for instruction like writing a story? We are using the Silk Road as our theme this year. Think about a story that might fit with that theme. Think about its potential for creating a rich context and an engaging story line. You will be writing about your chosen topic/theme in the blog entry for this module.

- In the blog, make a list of “Comprehension Check Strategies” as you view the film. This list will be one of your resources as you create lessons and teach during the STARTALK program. Why are comprehension checks essential in learner-centered and content-culture-language integrated classrooms?
